Royal Icing


3 level Tbsp meringue powder

1 pound sifted powdered sugar

5-6 Tbsp lukewarm water


Combine all ingredients.  Mix 7-10 minutes at low-medium speed until icing loses its sheen.  To prevent drying, be sure to cover the bowl with a damp cloth while working with icing.  Store in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks.  To reuse beat on low to restore original texture.  Any bit of shortening will break down this icing so be sure utensils are greaseless.  Store in refrigerator.



Color Flow


1 pound sifted powdered sugar

2 Tbsp Color Flow icing mix

1/4 cup plus 1 tsp water


Using an electric mixer, blend all ingredients on low speed for 7 minutes.  Color Flow icing crusts very quickly, so keep it covered with a damp cloth while using.  Store in airtight container with plastic wrap and put in refrigerator.  Bring to room temp and re-mix.
